The Wind and the Sun

My studio professor gave us a book of Aesop's fables one day and asked us to pick one to transform into a children's book. I chose The Wind and The Sun, a tale of two powerful forces that like a little friendly competition. In the end, gentleness wins. This project helped me find my feet in digital illustration, as well as a love for children's books that pack a punch. It also challenged me greatly in terms of process and moving forward with decisions.

In writing and illustrating this retelling, 
I wanted parents that have to read this book over and over again to enjoy every page and feel as though their children were learning something truly meaningful.
I believe that the age-old "moral of the story" should be both 
true and relevant, because that's when it's at its most powerful. 
I plan to write and illustrate more books like this 
in the not-too-distant future!
